A Study of Serum Lipid Levels in Normal Subject and Various Diseases.

Abstract
Total cholesterol and triglyceride were measured in sera of 50 cases of hypertension, 26 cases of acute myocardial infarction, 14 cases of cerebral thrombosis, 26 cases of subarachnoidal hemorrhage and 30 cases of normal control in Chungnam National University Hospital from October 1980 to February 1982, and the results are as follows;
1. The mean total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in normal control group are 153.57¡¾40.60mg%, and 150.82¡¾51.76mg%.
2. Serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels in myocardial infarction, hypertension
cerebral thrombosis and subarachnoidl hemorrhage were higher than that of normal control group, but in general, there is tendency of high levels of serum lipids in cardiovascular disorders (hypertension, myocardial infarction) compared than cerebrovascular disease (cerebri thrombosis and subarachnoidal hemorrhage)
3. Serum cholesterol and triglyceride level decreased by administration of panthothenic acid (Pantomin¢ç) for 6 weeks and the decreasing rates are 18.0% and 38.2%.
In conclusion, it seems that the development of above mentioned disease, high serum cholesterol and triglyceride level plays important risk factor, also prevention and treatment of these are important in suppression of development of above diseases.
